I've always worked with Apple products...
But I've never actually read any of the "Starter Guides." I've been an iPhone user since about 2011, have had a MacBook since 2015, and have had an iPad for just over three months.
When it comes to iPhones, I still feel very good about being able to teach someone how they work and how to do things. With my MacBook, my husband had to teach me the "ins and outs" of it because they are truly made to be completely different than your regular PC Laptops.
iPads are a whole other story...
I always had it in my brain that iPads were simply giant iPhones, and that everything was the same. Formatting....settings...you name it! I thought that it would be identical.
<i. was. wrong.> To preface this, according to Apple themselves, Apple Teacher is apparently is "a free professional learning program designed to support and celebrate educators using Apple products for teaching and learning." You can learn more about what it is exactly here. Basically it is a teaching guide to equipped educators on how to use Apple products so that we can use them in the classroom. Seems easy right? No, it's not really as easy as you think. I thought at first that I could get my badge and take the quiz and pass it without even opening any of the ~very useful~ links they had given to study with. I took it three times before I let my pride down and finally opened up the free iBook version of the Starter Guide. I learned lots of interesting things like being able to split my screen between two applications. This is quite handy because you may want to have your students have a PowerPoint open, and also want them to take notes via iPad. This allows them to have both at the same time. Overall, I rate this concept and site 5/5! It is simple. It is accessible, and it also is extremely educational for a teacher who wants a quick lesson on technology.
