To be honest, I've never liked Keynote.
Growing up, I've always been all about Microsoft PowerPoint. Before I bought my MacBook Air in 2015, I had never even heard of Keynote. Because of this, even after exploring a little bit, I still downloaded PowerPoint and Word onto my computer. I just did not want to have to worry about making sure assignments I turned into school were the correct format (and I didn't know that Keynote or Pages would do that for me.)
Heres the thing though:
Before taking the Apple Teacher course that was for Keynote, I did not realize how much creative freedom I actually had using it. I had honestly always thought that Keynote and Pages were just two knock-offs apple created to compete with Microsoft. That's not the case though. Keynote allows me be more creative. I can create presentations without words and use more animation. I can make presentations more excited because Keynote CAN and DOES allow me to change more than PowerPoint does. |
If you do have access to the Apple Teacher, there is an iBook about Keynote on the iBooks Store. Literally everything I have written I really learned there. The biggest thing for me that this iBook shares is how to format properly! If you're like me, I would definitely give this application a try because it is not NEARLY the same. Below is a video that I was able to create using Keynote! While this is a VERY simple animation--there are so many ways to change it for each classroom! |
