I created a note card confession video.
These videos are nothing new to me because I live off of Youtube. I love exactly what they are about. Sometimes, people make them to free themselves of a past experiences, and they do i anonymously. Sometimes, people make them for life happenings like their adoption story, their miscarriage story. Sometimes, people make them to aid in lessons too. They do a note card confession over a famous person or even a place.
For me, though, those weren't the case.
I chose to do it on a past experience of mine, and if you watch my video, you will soon figure out what it was!
Making this video was very easy!!! All I needed was some 5x3 notecards, a nice marker, and something to record myself. I also had music playing in the background, so that is another option too! It took some time for me to get the music started and on pace with what I was doing, but other than that, everything was fine.
There are a few options when it comes to recording. I chose to record with my iPhone because it has better video quality than my iPad and my MacBook. At first, I was worried that it would mirror my video so no one would be able to read the notecards, so I had a little freak out about that. However, it ended up being just fine!!
This sort of project is amazing in the classroom. There are a few ways that I can see this being amazing. One, of course, is what I said above. Having them do a confession in the perspective of a famous or historical figure!
For me, I want to get to know my students. I want to know where they came from, and I want to know how they got to where they are. I want to know their hearts- what makes them laugh, why they are so angry all the time. Everything. So, if I were teaching 5th or 6th grade, this would be a project I would have the students do about themselves. Only I would see it, and it would be for THEM. To show ME something that they feel like I need to know to have a successful year together. This could be over anything. Divorce, sexual assault, autism, honestly anything. The more I think about it, the more I t gives me goose-bumps. This could be a VERY powerful tool.
