I love all kinds of podcasts!
However, I had yet to use anything that really was education based.
Tech EDGE Mobile Learning in the Classroom Podcasts are exactly that, though. They are video/podcasts that focus on classroom apps and teachings that can be used in nearly all settings in the classroom!! There are over 300 of these podcasts, and there is really something for everyone. While I was searching, on YouTube I noticed that they really had so many elementary education podcasts that I could be good for the rest of my life!! These are truly remarkable.
Below are three podcasts that talk about three different apps and how I liked those apps!

Below are three podcasts that talk about three different apps and how I liked those apps!
Todo Math
Todo Math is a free App on the App Store, and you can download it here. In the podcast, the woman talks about how this app is geared toward lower elementary, and I believe she's right. Like the video points out- it's about numbers and writing numbers. It does not take long for an adult to get the hang of it, and I'm sure the same would go for a 1st grader! On the app store, the creators describe this app as the following:
Simple, right? If I had to compare this game to another app I have used, I would compare it to Candy Crush. In both games, you have to completely levels to basically move along a path! This is a very user friendly app with nothing the really needs to be changed or explored much.
Breakfast Time
While this podcast talks about several early math games, I am focusing on Breakfast Time. The gist of this game to help students learn how to separate items into equal parts. While I feel like some first and second graders would already have this knowledge, I still feel like It may be good to use as a refresher. I do feel like this would be a great kindergartner game.
Upon opening the app, I realized that this was wayyy more kid friendly than assumed. However, I feel like if I were to use it for kindergartners, they would not be able to read any directions. It is a little more advanced than I assumed, so it would probably be great for second grade! Especially if we were teaching fractions!! On the app store, the creators quoted the following:

"This game provides a fun way for children to equipartition. Equipartitioning is dividing a collection of objects into equal groups or a continuous whole into equal parts. It is an important skill that helps build children’s understanding of fractions, ratios, division, multiplication, number sense, and number composition." |
This game is great because there are no in-app purchased, it is free, and it has no advertisements.
Yodel Oh!
Yodel Oh! is more of an upper-elementary school app. It is not an app for kids just learning math because it has timed tasks. The whole point of the game is to climb mountains and I really do love the way that the app is laid out.
"Take on RamBam, LambBam and the whole bleatin' clan in the exciting Alpine climbing adventure that pits your wits against the meanest sheep in the mountain. Loaded with half-crazed herds, twisting targets and awesome fairway sounds, YodelOh is guaranteed to have you lacing up your lederhosen and yodeling for more. Download it today for free!" |
This app is free on the app-store!!!
