Who is Shelly Fryer?
Shelly Fryer is a teacher, blogger. and child advocate. You can read all about her here on her website. In her About Me she writes, "Shelly’s passion is helping her students love learning. She believes student learning in the classroom should be engaging." Right in the beginning on exploring, I can already tell she and I would probably get along well in person. I am a huge child advocate, and I want to do the same thing--teach students that school can be fun!! Currently, she is teaching third grace at Casady School, but she has been teaching for over 20 years.
The Blog.
Shelly makes a class blog each year for her students, and below is a way to get to them.
After looking around on them, I can really see that she worked in an iPad classroom. The students submit assignments to these classroom websites. This is a really fun and interesting way for students to use technology/iPads. As a visitor to the page, I get to see the creations and assignments, and I can see all of the hard work her students put into them.
Shelly introduces photos and videos and even radio talks on her blog.

Inspired by Dwayne Reed: Welcome to Room 108
Here, I see a blog post specifically by Shelly. This is about her class video. A spin-off of a video by Dwayne Reed, this is a video about her class--in room 108. It is really refreshing to see a teacher incorporating music in the classroom. They even put special lyrics in the video on top of the original music. Follow that original link to see their video.
Technology 101 Skills for Teachers
On this page, I could get tons of material to help me figure out how to work with technology. It is PACKED full of resources and videos. Also on this page, she speaks about A Plus Schools. She writes that,
"A Plus Schools are focused on integrating the arts into and across the curriculum, but also much more. The focus is not just 'art enhancement,' when a teacher adds an art activity to an existing lesson. Quality A Plus essentials integration involves teaching common vocabulary and skills involving multiple subjects, in activities which blend the content areas in engaging activities." |

Why My Students Love School
I really connected with this post.
"Thanks to our morning meetings and the intentional relationship building in which we’re constantly engaged, my students feel safe sharing intimate aspects of their lives with me and with other students in our class."
She gives her students an opportunity to play. To be kids. They move. Her school even provides clothes for her students. These are all the things we should all be doing. These are the important things.
Shelly loves her school. She loves her classroom....and I believe that because oft that, her students do too.

Overall....
Shelly's blog is super easy to navigate. It is full of information and resources and just her heart. She pours her life into her students, and I think that is a very good trait.
5/5 for her as a teacher and for her as a blogger.
